Team TC Media recently took to the ping pong tables at Spin Toronto for a cross-company celebration. And what better way to better get to know the colleagues you don't cross paths with day to day than to defeat them at ping pong? (Although, admittedly, I can't say I did any of the defeating.) But it did get me thinking: What an awesome space for a celebration that brings together different interests and age groups! A place where you don't have to think about keeping guests entertained (the tables do that for you) or about prepping, serving and cleaning up the food and drink (thanks to their extensive menu and helpful staff). It's pretty much a win-win-win (unless you're like me, and losing at ping pong - then it's win-win-win-lose). Ha.     And of course the look isn't like that of your typical local sports bar. Located on Toronto's trendy King Street West, Spin surpasses the chic modern neighbourhood's standard with its interior design done by two design-savvy Canadians in collaboration with New York-based design hero Todd Oldham. The fun and funky vibe vibrates, as does the energy in the whole space, and the effect is almost electric.

 

  Want to visit Spin, but don't have a whole party of people to take with you? Spin is open nightly for any size of group nightly from noon to 1 or 2 am. Go on a Wednesday to enjoy their weekly Round the Table series, where interested players have a chance to go face to face with a pro and a local DJ spins an awesome soundtrack in the background. (For me, it would have to be "We are the Champions"... HA.)

(I'm not sure how they did overall, but they win at looking good while playing.)  

  By contrast, here's a shot of Ava Baccari, web writer at Elle Canada, and me looking wholly uncoordinated. By the looks on our faces, I'd say we (and by "we," I mean "I") just hit someone in the distance with a ball.
