CREATE A ROOM LIKE THESE NO MATTER YOUR BUDGET WITH A FEW DOS AND DON'TS:
1. Do choose a bold colour palette.
Superhero style is all the rage right now (thanks, Wonder Woman!), so we’ve channelled the power of those comicbook characters into a strong energetic palette that will lift your decorating up, up and away!
The vivid colour scheme works in this sitting room because the shades we’ve chosen have similar saturating, giving a balancing effect and allowing two forceful hues to work in harmony.
2. Do invest in the forever classic Wishbone chair.
This unassuming chair is a testament to its maker’s skill as both an architect and a cabinetmaker as well as a pioneering furniture designer. Made of a graceful combination of steambent solid wood and handwoven paper cord, Hans J. Wegner’s Wishbone chair, a masterpiece of Danish Modern design, has never been out of production since it made its debut in 1949.
3. Don't be afraid of brightening up a natural piece.
The natural textures in our sitting room add an organic serenity to all the patterns and pops of colour, but we felt there was something missing. Enter a can of cobalt blue paint. With a few licks, this rattan chair becomes a lustrous statement piece that grounds the other intense shades in the space.
4. Don't write-off a bright red sofa.
Some might think it takes a brave homeowner to commit to a red sofa, but upon viewing these classic, classy and comfortable beauties, we beg to differ. With a style and shade to suit every taste, this crimson tide might just become our new neutral.
