Christmas stocking
A cone-shaped stocking inspired by the Victorian period is both glamorous and cozy. Although this project requires a sewing machine, it’s still simple to make. A pompom fringe and a grosgrain ribbon are all that are needed to make this
stocking worthy of receiving
gifts.
Materials
With a piece of felt folded in half, measure and mark 23" along the fold and 9½" across the top using a ruler and a fabric pencil. Connect the points to form half of a triangle. Cut out the triangle using scissors.
Step 2
Using a sewing machine, stitch a 19" length of fringe along the top of the triangle (where the cuff would be), making sure the edges are lined up.
Step 3
Cut a 10" length of grosgrain ribbon (includes a ½" seam allowance). Fold the ribbon in half and, using a needle and thread, handstitch both ends to the felt on a slight angle with the loop facing inward, about 1" from the top.
Step 4
Fold the felt in half lengthwise, right sides together. Using a sewing machine, stitch a ½" seam along the longest open edge. Press the seam allowance and turn right side out.
