For expat Shereen Arazm – a judge on Food Network’s Top Chef Canada, a restaurateur and a busy mom – the bathroom renovation in her LA home had to make a splash with timeless chic bathroom design details. Here, we showcase 15 of our favourites.

After: Dressing area and bath shelves
1 The predominantly black dressing room with cream accents is a pleasing contrast to the spacious all-white bathroom shown beyond.

2 The built-in bench with pullout drawers offers extra stylish storage room for less-used items, and a comfy seat cushion topped with an assortment of throw pillows turns this spot into the perfect perch.

3 A design feature typically found in a shower, this integrated shelf keeps bath essentials off the rim of the tub and neatly corralled within arm’s reach.

4 A built-in chest houses the family’s necessities. Two different drawer-front styles were used to create interest in the all-white room.

5 Covering the entire bathroom in subway tile wainscotting not only makes it super easy to clean and maintain but also gives off a vintage vibe that reflects the age and history of the 1920s home.

6 Recessing the mirrored medicine cabinet in the wall allows more space for grooming and pampering.

7 Roman shades in a warm white linen blend right into the wall, giving the room a fresh, clean appearance without feeling too stark.

8 The curved bathtub helps break up all the linear lines, while its ribbed bottom offers retro appeal.

9 A gorgeous Ann Sacks mosaic bathroom tile floor edged in a band of marble is the showpiece of the bathroom. Note how all the other elements were kept white.

After: Showerhead and hooks
10 A large rain showerhead and cross-shaped handles in a polished finish is the perfect combination of modern luxury and retro style.

11 The modest shower features the same white subway tiles on the walls and ceiling for a seamless look, while the shower floor picks up on the colours of the mosaics.

12 A series of hooks is a great alternative to the traditional towel bar. And each family member has a designated spot for his or her towel and robe.
Photos and glass canisters
13 Framed family photos in black and white add a personal touch and are an easy and inexpensive way to incorporate artwork into a bathroom setting.

14 Glass canisters in various sizes are as handsome as they are handy, housing everything from cotton swabs to sponges to make getting ready a cinch.
Full-length mirror
15 The original door adds character and does double duty covered in a full-length bevelled mirror, so you can easily make any last-minute adjustments to your outfit.
