Style at Home: How did the idea for this project come about?
Jillian: Justin and I were itching for a new project and he wouldn’t let me build an entirely new house – lol. Justin’s father runs a development company and built these condos. We thought it would be fun to invest in one, which would give me a chance to be creative, and then we’d rent it out to fans, followers and friends.

Style at Home: What was your inspiration?
Jillian: I loved the high ceilings and the small footprint, and my heart went straight to a combo of New York/Paris loft with a Kelowna/Jillian Harris twist!

Style at Home: What was the biggest challenge?
Jillian: Size. It’s pretty small. We really wanted to have a king bed, big couch and oversized items, but that’s hard to do with a micro condo – but it turned out perfectly! Although the bedroom is small, a king-size bed was important, so we chose a bed frame from The Cross that was narrow. To maximize the condo’s sleeping capacity, we also selected a queen-size pull-out sofa for the living room. Also, since there is no designated dining area, we had to utilize the living room for dining as well, so we found a white coffee table with lift-up top that works for eating or for working at. We also used a rolling ladder in the bedroom that lets us easily access the space above the closet for luggage or other storage. The suite has 10-foot ceilings and two large patio doors that make it feel bright, so thanks to that, combined with white walls, elongated mouldings and light-coloured furniture, the little condo took on a grand feel.
