Decorate like royalty: Inside Will and Kate’s apartment

Faux-fur throws

After moving into Kensington Palace in the fall of 2013, Duchess Catherine purchased a pair of these Svetlana faux-fur throws from the Peter Jones John Lewis department store. Faux-fur throw, johnlewis.com, $145.

Parrot serving platter

Kate was spotted shopping at Zara Home and reportedly picked up a pair of serving plates with birds on them, one of which had a parrot motif. Serving platter, Zara Home, $50.

Kelly Hoppen candles

The royal couple’s apartment is stocked with British interior designer Kelly Hoppen’s candles and home fragrances, according to reports. The Scent One Black Candle is a mix of patchouli, myrrh and floral notes. Scent One Black Candle, kellyhoppen.com, $64.

Persian rug

One of the many perks of being Will and Kate includes access to the Royal Treasury, which the couple can borrow from rather like a library. They’ve borrowed an ornate Persian rug valued at $50,000. We suspect, given Kate’s preference for neutral tones, that it might look something like this antique Tabriz rug from auction site 1stdibs.com. Persian rug, 1stdibs.com, $54,000.

Corinthian lamp

Another loan from the Royal Treasury is a pair of Corinthian lamps. This style of lamp is slender with intricate carvings, making it understated yet suitable for both traditional and transitional interiors like this floor lamp from Restoration Hardware. Beatrix Potter quilt set

Before Prince George was born, his gender was unknown. Will and Kate kept the world’s guessing game going by supposedly decorating the nursery with gender-neutral Beatrix Potter patterns. This toddler quilt set from Pottery Barn Kids features Beatrix Potter’s best-known character, Peter Rabbit and includes a quilt, bed skirt and fitted sheet. Earth-tone paint colour

English paint manufacturer Farrow & Ball has a whole section on its website speculating on the colours the royal couple have used in its newly renovated abode. By suggesting that the cozy neutral French Gray 18 is perfect for their living room, we think Farrow & Ball has hit the nail on the head. It’s a warm, inviting earth tone, which seems to echo the look Will and Kate are aiming for. French Gray 18, farrow-ball.com, $95 US per gallon.

Herringbone stripe fabric

Duchess Kate picked a herringbone stripe in light brown from traditional British fabric manufacturer Bernard Thorp & Co., to be used for curtains in the family’s apartment, apparently at a price of $240 per metre. Herringbone stripe fabric, bernardthorp.co.uk, price available upon request.

Cambridge crib and chair

This beautiful gliding chair and crib (a crib is called a cot in Britain) come from Dragons of Walton Street, an upscale children’s boutique in London that furnished the nurseries of both Prince William and Harry. Deep dish dog bed

We’d be willing to guess that the Cambridge’s dog, Lupo, sleeps on a pretty sweet bed. Given the couple’s affinity for neutral tones and UK design, it’s likely the cocker spaniel has a comfy bed like this Lounger Deep Dish dog bed from British company Orvis. Deep dish dog bed, orvis.co.uk, $271.
