The Merrill House For A Weekend Escape From The Ordinary
After the last two years, who isn’t ready for a getaway?
The fully restored Merrill House in the heart of Ontario’s Prince Edward County is tailor-made for a weekend escape from the ordinary. The inn-turned-boutique hotel located on Picton’s main street was built in 1878 as the grand residence of a prominent local judge. Now it’s been painstakingly restored and reimagined by creative director and owner Jordan Martin de Rosales, who has created
a unique environment that melds Victorian grandeur with contemporary art – including wallpaper by William Morris, murals by Pine & Dandy Co., and furniture by Spanish designer Houtique. Merrill House features 14 rooms, each with its own character. Check out the elegantly historic United Empire Loyalist suite; the quirky Haunted Room in the old servants’ quarters; or the constantly evolving Future Room, where imagined interiors of tomorrow are presented today. For epicureans, fine dining with a Burgundy accent (in keeping with the local Prince Edward County terroir) and a complimentary gourmet breakfast satisfy. Be sure to take in the full slate of the permanent and revolving art installations, too.
